Could you help me out with translating this English idiom? to DUTCH

For those who speak Dutch, I would like to ask if I have correctly translated the following idiom in an American book (literature), which was published in 1902:
The meat is always in the middle of the sandwich. Of course, a light butter on either side of it doesn't do any harm if it's intended for a man who likes butter.
I have translated this as follows, and I would love to hear your comments:
[Maar] het lekkerste stukje vlees zit altijd in het midden van de biefstuk. Het kan natuurlijk geen enkel kwaad om naar smaak wat peper toe te voegen als de man voor wie het is bedoeld hier wel van houdt.
Thank you!
